Learn / Create / Exhibit 
Enriching media artists in the Yukon since 1999, the Yukon Film Society (YFS) supports the production and exhibition of artist-driven and independent film and media art.

Membership

  • Production members ($50 annual) gain access to production and post-production equipment and facilities, technical support, and training
  • Exhibition members ($10) receive discounts on film screenings and media art events. Film-lovers members ($20) can borrow from YFS cinema library of 700+ films

Production Equipment;
The YFS production equipment inventory includes video cameras, lenses, sound recording equipment, media capture tools, light kits and an editing facility available at accessible rates for artists, community groups and commercial production. 

Workshops and Professional Development 
Support to media artists at all levels

The Yukon Film Society provides training and skill development opportunities for beginners and established media artists and filmmakers. YFS offers on-demand tutorials for YFS production members interested in learning to use the equipment available for rent.  Artist and filmmaker members are eligible to apply to the Jenni House Studio artist residency program and have the opportunity to apply to be recommended to the Telefilm Canada Micro-Budget Production Program (YFS is a designated program partner) YFS production members also have the opportunity to receive support through our other industry partnerships such as Canada Media Fund – Fonds des médias du Canada.

Canada’a largest cinema event North of 60` includes 30+ screenings of Canadian and International cinema, media art exhibitions, guest filmmakers, ALFF Media Industry Forum and multi-disciplinary performances.  Past ALFF filmmakers and performers include: Tanya Tagaq, Guy Maddin, John Walker, Zacharias Kunuk, Alanis Obomsawin, John K Samson, Vincent Morisset, Don Mckellar and Stephane Lafleur.

Yukon Arts Centre September to April - Documentaries, foreign art-house and classic films year round!

Kwanlin Dun Cultural Centre October to March  - This new film series about Aboriginal experiences of films made by Aboriginal filmmakers is presented in partnership with the Kwanlin Dun Cultural Centre.
